| Job Description | To provide high quality physical therapy services following standards of practice and laws set by the hospital, professional association, and federal, state and local governments. The therapist evaluates the need for, and implements physical therapy programs to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of function. Also, the therapist has a role in wellness or injury prevention programs for specific patient groups. The therapist may attend ward rounds, discharge planning, evaluation clinics, in-service training, staff meetings or other professional meetings. Also, supervises and assists in training students, assistants or volunteers. |
| Qualifications | Certification/Registration
•Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program, with a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy. •Licensed to practice physical therapy in West Virginia. Physical Demands: •Must be able to move intermittently into standing, sitting, and bending throughout the day. •May need to lift and support patients of up to 250 pounds or more. (Can direct aids/assistants to assist in carrying this out if physically unable to fulfill requirement). •Must be able to effectively interact with patients, family members personnel and visitors under all conditions and circumstances. This includes hostile and emotionally upset people, those with infectious diseases or in areas with unpleasant odors. •Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetic that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. •Must be able to cope with frequent interruptions, schedule changes. •May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. •Must be able to speak and write English in an understandable manner |
