REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT 2008 Insurance Payer Conference: September 16, 2008 at the Charleston Marriott Hotel The West Virginia Physical Therapy Association is requesting financial support for the Second Insurance Payer Conference scheduled for September 16, 2008. Our first Payer Forum was very successful with more than 50 representatives from the insurance companies and case managers. The purpose of the conference is: "To increase communication and understanding among the insurance industry, case managers and physical therapy providers by demonstrating the cost effectiveness of services provided by Physical Therapists." This is a free program for individuals who work for insurance companies and who serve as case managers for various groups. We believe this is a good investment in our time, energy and resources but we find we need some financial help from our members. Many state chapters do this program annually for their in-state insurance companies and it benefits them in the decisions the insurance companies make in terms of what they cover and do not cover in their policies. The APTA also does a national Payer Forum that has helped in some other reimbursement issues. The overall benefit is that we become known to the decision-makers and can eventually become a resource to them. Our West Virginia Chapter was asked to share our experiences with other states at the national meeting as our meeting had more representation from the insurance industry than any other state.
In exchange for a $150 donation to the WVPTA to support this program, we will provide a list of contributing PT practices (or individuals) to those who attend the September 16 workshop and invite one PT from the practice to attend the for the day. Please indicate your willingness to support this conference by completing the information below and submitting it with your check. Thank you for your support.
